Grill Queen Lunch Out with Officemates

It was a sunny Monday afternoon. The VCS Team had lunch at Grill Queen in Maginhawa St., just a few blocks from our office. Akilla has no interest in table food so she just watched us munch our grilled dishes. After eating, we dropped by the dog food store in Kalayaan to buy a kilo of Akilla's foodie: Chicken flavored Eukanuba Puppy @P150.

New Army Bed and Akilla Stuff

Today, Akilla joined us while we met with our client at Mr. Kurosawa at the Eastwood Mall. She behaved inside my black bag (with her head popped out) while mommies brainstormed and negotiated with our client. She was at my lap, quietly sleeping. I placed the bag on the floor and concentrated on our meeting. A few moments later, the waitress called my attention and we saw the little thing wandering freely in the restaurant. It was a funny sight. I put her back inside my bag and secretly told her we'll be done with work soon.

We learned just earlier that dogs walked in Eastwood should have permits and should be registered first. We'll register on our next visit, Akilla.

After the Eastwood meeting, we went straight to Tiendesitas to look for a puppy carrier. We were able to buy one on sale, for P700. Mall price for a 19" carrier is around P1,000 - P1,300. We also found an army bed on bargain. For only P350, Akilla will no longer sleep inside the cold steel structure of her purple cage every night.

We also bought her a neon green reflectorized collar (P217) so it will be easier to spot her in the dark (suggested by our good friend, Joy) and an Alpo Puppy shampoo for P210. Alpo puppy is the shampoo recommended by Akilla's breeder. Tomorrow will be Akilla's first bath! We can't wait for her to smell really good!

Akilla the Pug

We thought of a name. We thought about it really hard. I searched the internet to see Greek, Hawaiian or Hindu names. Those names that are rare, or have meaning.

We liked a few Greek names, Kanene (a little thing in the eye is big) and Razi (secret) in African, and Bane (long awaited child), and Mily (beautiful) in Hawaiian.

But Akela stood out the most. It means "noble" in Hawaii. We named her Akela at the night of April 19. And introduced her to the world the next day. Akela seemed to be a nice name. But the name would not get her attention. We met up with a friend from Singapore, Joy, the next day. Joy said she'd be "Akeela's" godmother. Hey, Akeela also sounded nice. Joy said Akeela in Akeela and the Bee suits Akela too. So we called her Akeela.

The next day, April 21, I was playing with her and smelled her breath and her unwashed coat, and saw her face super close up. I said "that's a killer face and a killer smell!"

And Akilla, the killah pug's name, was born.

Meeting Akilla

This is Akilla with her fawn sis. We met her on Sunday, April 19. She's six weeks old. Her name on the papers is Ally.

It wasn't hard choosing Akilla among the 7 other cute little pugs. We were settled to get a black female pug which has narrowed our choices to two. We chose Akilla between the other femme pug because she's smaller and she has a cuter face.

Akilla was quiet and well behaved when we first carried and played with her. But when we took her home, her personality changed! She suddenly became a hyperactive little puppy!
